AeroSpace Structures Engineering Lab
The Lab
Activities and Objectives
Fundamental research in:
● Structural Health Monitoring
In the last years, the AS.S.E. Group has been worked to the definition of SHM methods for detecting, locating and evaluating debonding and delaminations in structures typically used in aerospace field. Future Plans: more complex studies to apply the proposed methods on existing or new aerospace structures by embedding miniaturized hardware and exploiting integrated software, and proving their reliability and efficiency in a flying UAV lab.
● Advanced Composite Materials for Aerospace Structures
Energy harvesting and morphing structures had become research topics of the AS.S.E. Group by using bistable composites, i.e. multilayer structures with two stable states. Future Plans: Dynamic Finite Element models (structure/fluid coupling) and experimental campaigns (aeroelastic experiments).
